Image Assignment

21 Mar

My image assignment, Adventures in PhotoShop, is up. Check it out. I lost the argument with DreamWeaver about placing the images. I’ll fight with it later, but for now, all the images are there for your enjoyment.

I really like your cropping/resizing of Rosie the Riveter, and your vignette of the mountains looks great.

Could you color in the hair of Eleanor Roosevelt? Even if she was gray-haired, the picture might look better if you added gray on top of the gray already in the black-and-white picture, because she looks like she’s wearing a mask without it. Also, do you know what color her eyes were?

    Overall great job

I think the Attu vignette was effective in intensifying the effect the photographer achieved by framing the soldiers within the valley. Something we did not talk about in class, although I can imagine few other applications for it in a history site, is the use of a vignette on a photograph when preparing it as a background image or making space for short captions on the photos themselves. I am (obviously) going to retool my backgrounder site in the next couple of days and I am thinking about vignetting some of the people shots on the page in order to do this.
